Kaya Eagles Golf Club, Belek, Antalya, Turkey
At around 6000 yards, Kaya Eagles Golf Club is one of the shorter layouts in Belek, ideal for higher handicappers but a strategic challenge for any golfer looking to score well. Co-designed by David Jones, the Irish Master PGA Professional, he did a superb job working some wonderful holes into a compact piece of land. Views of the Taurus Mountains prevail but the course presentation itself with plenty water and a mix of mature trees is quite charming.

There are eight lakes spread around the course and these are its salient feature. Greens such as the 17th sit high above the water, built up on honey-coloured stone walls, lovely to look at but quite tricky to land on. It’s also a two tier green! Good drives are essential to gain a useful approach shot, keeping down the right but there are trees down that side. The 17th, Stroke Index 2 is one of the best holes on this course and indeed in Belek. Similar to the 17th, hole number 3 is a leap of faith over a dividing river and you really need a good drive to take on the green.
These are just two examples of the strategies you need to gain a good score here. Higher handicap players will actually find it easier as there are many opportunities to lay up and avoid the obvious trouble.

On the three occasions we’ve played it, Kaya Eagles has always been immaculately maintained. With its mountainous backdrop and rich mix of trees, it’s a bit of a breather from the more demanding tracks - the ideal venue perhaps if you are looking for a second course to play in a day.
