And what a bonus that turned out to be. Golf de Touraine near the town of Tours turned out to be the best golf experience of the visit. I pulled up to the chateau clubhouse without a tee time, without a playing partner and without a clue what sort of course this was. I was greeted and treated royally!
Within half an hour I was out on the 1st tee. This was a roller coaster course full of twists, turns and tests. The greens were its main defence perched atop rises, hard to attack and tasking enough to simply land on them. Woods and water were the other allies on a really enjoyable test, far more varied than the other courses we had encountered - and more mature also. Touraine is the oldest club in this area and it oozes charm especially in its old clubhouse. Make sure and have this one on the itinerary.
